For the past 38 years I’ve been designing and producing original knitwear designs using mainly natural fibres such as cotton, linen and pure silk, silk/wool mixes and warm winter chunky wool mix yarns, incorporating hand and machine knitting as well as silk fabric to accessorise the knitwear.
Starting out in wholesale which culminated in orders to New York and Japanese high end department stores, and then in the early nineties after surviving a major recession, scaling back to retailing direct to clients through upscale craft fairs in both the UK and America, which is where the business remains to this day.
I’m still continuously on the look out for new yarns as it’s often the yarns themselves that inspire new designs. Coming from Lancashire mill stock I always found the mills fascinating places, and the mill workers – my mother included- were like magicians conjuring up beautiful yarns and fabric from these great clanking, terrifying machines.
38 years later and I’m still handcrafting beautiful designs which are still much appreciated by both old and new clients.
When someone tells me how wonderful they feel wearing my outfits it still gives me that “job well done” feeling and that for me is the true meaning of job satisfaction.
