I design and create a unique collection of handbags, together with a range of accessories, in my home studio overlooking the Mendip hills.
I was born into a highly creative family. My mother – a professional tailor and designer of fashion apparel – encouraged a fundamental love of the sculptural and textural qualities of textiles and leather. I was at work manipulating fabric and haberdashery, cutting out and creating just as soon as soon as little hands could cope with pins and scissors!
In 2006 after almost two decades of nine to five work, I decided to follow my passion for creativity and fashion full time. With an accumulation of private commissions, I was keen to develop ideas and put them to the test of the wider marketplace. It was time to dust down a life’s collection of notebooks and photographs, to complete half-finished projects and to explore new materials and new methods of working them.
My reputation has been built by creating practical yet colourful and fun products seeking to achieve the perfect blend of functionality and form. I especially enjoy meeting customers both old and new to understand what it is they are looking for in terms of style and functionality and quickly refining her products to better meet these requirements. Like many ‘crafters’ I am really looking forward to meeting you all again at Hatfield in 2021 and showing you all my lovely new creations.
You will be able to meet Amanda at Living Crafts at Hatfield Park 5-8 May 2022
